Happy Friday! This week has been a total blur and I can’t believe it’s Friday already. In the midst of a crazy week at work, my husband left for a conference. Then my au pair’s year was over and the new one just arrived last night, so I’ve had a childcare gap this week. So while I haven’t done as much triathlon training or running as usual, I’m dreaming of the spring, summer, and fall race season and working on all my big plans and goals.
Today’s Friday Five theme with me, Courtney, and Mar is a fun one – “What’s in my Gym Bag?”. We did this theme last May and had so much fun with it that we decided to give it another round in 2015! I decided since I had already rummaged through my gym bag for you in May, I’d give you five things that are in my triathlon bag. Because some of these things are awesomesauce, baby!
So here are 5 Triathlon Bag Essentials!
1. Bike Helmet. I’m so giddy with excitement, because I have a new bike helmet. I haven’t been outside to ride with it, and I cannot wait for the next nice bike riding day so I can use it for its intended purpose, rather than just walking around with it on my noggin in the house!
Back in September at the Ironman 70.3 Augusta expo, I tried on two Rudy Project helmets and fell in love. I almost bought the pink aero helmet (Wingspan), but honestly I fell in love with the Windmax more. I didn’t buy it then and there, and then it was out of stock for a while on the website. So after stalking the Rudy Project website until it came back into stock, I finally took the plunge and ordered it!
I’m now a Rudy Project Sponsored Athlete, so if you have any Rudy helmet or sunglasses needs, email me for a 50% off discount code! [Link to email address under pic/bio on right!]
2. Pool Toys. I’ve chatted about my commitment to swimming recently, and as time has gone on, my collection of pool toys has grown. Currently, I have paddles, fins, goggles, a collection of swim caps, and a pull buoy shoved into my tri bag. Good thing that bag is roomy!
Okay, well maybe not every single one of these was in the bag, I might have stolen some from my gym bag. But I do like options!
4. Body Glide and Chamois Cream. Let’s not avoid the indelicate – we have to be real here on the blog – running long distances and/or cycling long distances does not a happy body make. The Body Glide is a must-do before a long ride, run, or race. And the chamois cream? Let’s just say I used to proudly declare that I didn’t need that stuff, and then I started riding half Ironman distance training rides. And… well… I need that stuff. I’ve been using this DZ Nuts Bliss Chamois Cream for Women that I picked up at a local bike shop.

What’s your gym bag essential, the thing you can’t live without?
Check out the linkup below to see what others have in their gym bag! I’m still going through blogs from last week’s linkup – not a lot of computer time earlier this week and I’m trying to catch up.
Oh one reminder – be sure to leave a link to a specific post and not the general link to your blog! Otherwise it gets very confusing if you post something else and then someone (like me!) goes to try and find your Friday Five post. And please make sure you only link up a Friday Five post – we’ll delete links that are random. Enjoy!
